Edam (town)
Edam, a typical small town along the Zuiderzee,
will always be associated with Edam cheese.
Edam is still a cheese trading centre with a cheese market
around the brightly painted Waag
(weigh house) early every Wednesday morning in July and August.
Founded in 12th century, the town has many historical buildings.
The 17th-century stained-glass windows in the Grote Kerk
are considered one of the finest in Holland.
